SEC Investigating ex-HP CEO Mark Hurd The government agency is looking into charges that Hurd may have leaked confidential information to a contractor The fuss raised during the messy divorce between Mark Hurd and his former employer, computer giant HP, isn't quite over. Hurd has been serving as co-President of Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) for months but, as Datamation reports, some details related to his ouster from HP (NYSE: HPQ) are being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The case could prove to be a major distraction for Hurd, one of several key top Oracle executives helping with the company's transformation to more of a complete systems supplier following its acquisition of Sun Microsystems. HP said it's cooperating with the SEC's investigation, though it declined to comment further on details of the investigation. The SEC is investigating claims that former HP CEO Mark Hurd may have shared information about HP's then pending $13.9 billion acquisition of Electronic Data Systems back in 2008.
SEC officials are allegedly looking into whether Hurd shared information on the EDS deal with Jodie Fisher, an HP contractor who served as hostess at various sales events, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. HP cleared Hurd of a sexual harassment claim by Fisher, but cited his filing false expense reports related to Fisher's work as among the reasons he was forced to leave the computer giant this past August. |
